More HD From DISH Network TurboHD

Satellite TV provider DISH Network recently released new programming packages called Turbo HD. These new programming packages are all hi def, removing of the SD channels. Is DISH Network Turbo HD the best choice for you?

It all depends on what you want from your cable or satellite TV provider. Some folks want every single channel that is available. They don't care if 10 of them are shopping channels, or that five of the channels are public access. They just want all of the channels.

On the other hand, many have become tired of trying to wade through all of the junk on the cable dial, looking for something decent to watch. For consumers who have recently bought a new plasma TV, Turbo HD by DISH Network might be the right choice.

The three different bundles with Turbo HD are the Bronze, Silver, and Gold levels. All of these packages are composed of hi def channels only. Packages start at around $24.99 per month for the entry level package. That package, however, does not include your local channels, which cost $5 more per month.

DISH Network also offers the Platinum package, which is an add-on service to any of the other TurboHD levels. The Platinum level is $10 per month, and includes seven more hi def channels such as MGM HD and Smithsonian HD.

One sticking point with some current DISH Network customers is they have not been allowed to switch over to the TurboHD packages, even though they are cheaper. At this time, just new subscribers to DISH Network have been allowed to get the TurboHD packages. Current customers can get Turbo HD, but only as an addition to the standard package they already have.

Another item to consider is in how DISH Network is counting the networks included in the bundles. Take for example the Turbo HD Bronze package which includes 44 channels, but of those 24 are network channels, six are pay-per-view, and 14 are video-on-demand channels. For some, that number would be adequate others are accustomed to having a lot more content to choose from. One final note, none of the TurboHD levels include premium movie channels like HBO or Showtime, so don't be surprised when you have to pay more for those commercial free channels. Choosing The Right Discount LCD TV s

If you are in the market for an LCD TV at a bargain price search the internet. Don't be in a hurry, wait for a deal to pop up. Around any holiday, especially Father's Day, stores will seize the opportunity get you that new LCD TV at just the right price.

Floor models are another good way to obtain discount LCD TVs from retailers; there is generally a deep discount on merchandise sold minus it's original packaging. If you can do without that large box sitting around your living room, you're in luck, as well as a little richer than you'd be with a "brand new" model.

Another option for discount LCD TVs is of course to buy last season's model; make sure that the features you want are all present in the model you've been eying up at your local electronics shop. For instance, it is important to remember that not every large screen flat panel unit is necessarily high definition. The consumer should carefully check specifications of each model before buying. These models may in fact be high definition, enhanced definition, or neither of those things. The common assumption is that if it walks like a duck does not always hold true here.

You have read a few ideas on how to save a few dollars on your next LCD TV. Maybe you are putting the cart before the horse, and you should actually decide which model LCD TV you want first and then search for the best LCD TV price. Read online about all the features and think about which of these is important to you.

A few questions to ask yourself when deciding on which LCD TV to choose: What will you be using the TV for? Will you be playing a lot of video games? Will you use it also as your computer monitor? Also a few things to look for: How sharp is the LCD TV display? Compare the darkness of black, the darker the black the more contrast there will be in the color.

The future of television is most certainly HDTV and LCD TV's. One of the nicest feature is size. Even though they have larger screens than the old console TV's of the past they are more portable. The flat screen panel can be easily mounted on a wall, eliminating the need for a large TV storage unit. The flat screen can also sit conveniently on top of most dressers or bookshelves or credenzas.
